Program

Note: Due to the illness of a member of the ensemble, the program will include: The Overture (for string sextet) to Richard Strauss' final opera, Capriccio, one of the two String Sextets by Brahms, and Dvorák's String Sextet in A, Op. 48. Previously announced works by Shostakovich (the Prelude and Scherzo for String Octet, Op. 11) & Mendelssohn (the Octet for Strings in E-flat, Op. 20) will not be performed.

Related events: 2:15 p.m., Fletcher Lobby - Pre-concert talk by Dr. Jonathan Kramer, Teaching Professor of Music and Arts Studies at NC State University and Adjunct Professor of Ethnomusicology at Duke University, and performance by a student ensemble from Davis Drive Middle School in Cary.
