*"The Really Terrible Orchestra Of the Triangle (RTOOT) is seeking competent musicians to audition to play with us in the fall. See our website at rtoot.org for details. We are derived from the world-famous Really Terrible Orchestra (RTO) of Edinburgh, Scotland, where, in 1995, a group of players got together and hired a conductor who rearranges the hard parts for instruments that can't manage the notes as written. The RTO has released a CD, played concerts in London, and will be appearing in New York at Town Hall on April Fool's Day, 2009(!). We especially encourage families to join us. If dad played the clarinet in college and mom played the cornet long ago, and if little Susie is playing the viola in the middle school orchestra, we provide a unique opportunity for the family to play together in an ensemble. The Really Terrible Orchestra Of the Triangle (RTOOT) is being organized by W. Sands Hobgood, keyboardist and conductor in the triangle area since 1952. Rehearsals will be held on Sunday afternoons in the Triangle (i.e. not in any of the vertex cities) to underscore the fact that we intend to be the Really Terrible Orchestra of the entire Triangle. The first concert is scheduled for 11/21 at University United Methodist Church in beautiful downtown Chapel Hill, in the fellowship hall. Featured will be the slow movement of Mozart's 23rd Piano Concerto in A Major, conducted very slowly from the keyboard by Mr. Hobgood. A second concert will be played in Durham in the spring, followed by a concert in Raleigh."
